Successful Nonprofit Websites: Looks are important

July 17, 2012

Is your website ugly? It sounds silly, but having an attractive website is actually important. Not only should your website be attractive – but it should also match your brand. Are these three things true about your nonprofit’s website?

  • Your identity is reflected in your website: Consistent use of colors, fonts, etc from print marketing to website and prominently featured logo.
  • Effective and appropriate photos/illustrations: Correctly cropped and proportioned photos, photos that fit with your color scheme, photos that reflect the diversity of your organization and participants, photos that are relevant and compelling, illustrations that fit your brand (versus generic clip art).
  • Your website is authentic: The website is specific to your organization and reflects the voice of your organization. It isn’t a generic template wordpress theme – nor a copy of another nonprofit’s website.
