Successful Nonprofit Websites: Forum for Community Building

July 20, 2012

Do you want the community to be involved and feel ownership over your cause? It’s not only important to make your content fresh and accessible, it’s critical that it’s easy to share. Having an interactive website is important – you don’t want people to visit it and have it read like a book with no way for people to get involved.

  • There are many opportunities for people to get involved from the website: Your website has forms and links for people get more information, donate, and volunteer.
  • There is a share feature: Visitors can visit your site and there are share buttons available that allow visitors to easily share content via email and social media.
  • There is a calendar for events: Visitors are provided with information about how they can get involved with your organization in-person.
  • You seek community feedback: You know that its important for people to feel like their opinion matters and you actively seek input from the community. You survey your volunteers, donors, and the public to gather their thoughts and opinions.
